چکیده

Abstract Bangkok’s Inner Orchard (BIO), located in the west peri-urban area of city, provides both fresh products and ecological benefits to its inhabitants. Although this unique forest-like cultivation mixed fruit trees growing on dikes has potential become an urban forest, it never been thoroughly investigated. Urban expansion is a threat orchard. Sustainable cities must maintain balance between development environment. In study, six orchards were surveyed by collecting data tree species, plant height, crown width, location analyzed identify orchard areas covered forest canopy clarify structure species diversity orchards. Overall, 98.64% within was evaluated using cover analysis. Analysis BIO revealed that average height greater than common trees. Tree analysis showed Shannon index value 2.53, indicating mid-range diversity. Older whereas newer orchards, replanted after major flood drought events, lesser species. order protect long-term, essential apply appropriate conservation strategies. Including Bangkok greening scheme would cause rapid increases green per capita ratio. Both food agriculture concepts could be applied existing which represent new types. thus act as hotspot for Bangkok.

A Device for Scheduling Irrigation in Fruit Tree Orchards from Sap Flow Readings

The aim of this work was to design and test a controller (CRP) able to calculate the irrigation dose automatically, suitable for high frequency irrigation in fruit tree orchards. The device consisted of three (replicates) measuring units (MU), a control unit (CU) and a pump and electrovalve controller (PEC). The MUs collected information on the transpiration (Ep) dynamics within the orchard, wi...

Are Hotspots Always Hotspots? The Relationship between Diversity, Resource and Ecosystem Functions in the Arctic

The diversity-ecosystem function relationship is an important topic in ecology but has not received much attention in Arctic environments, and has rarely been tested for its stability in time. We studied the temporal variability of benthic ecosystem functioning at hotspots (sites with high benthic boundary fluxes) and coldspots (sites with lower fluxes) across two years in the Canadian Arctic. ...

The Role of Mediterranean Fruit Tree Orchards and Vineyards in Maintaining the Traditional Agricultural Landscape

The Mediterranean area represents one of the most suitable and diversified environments for horticultural crops, being this propriety well expressed in the commonly accepted definition of “Mediterranean cultivated garden”. In Italy, fruit crops have been in the past introduced and expanded in different environments depending on the species and adaptability to the physiographic characteristics o...

Health and greening the city; new visions for health promoters.

okyo is one of the world's great new metropolitan areas; when I first visited it, it reminded me powerfully of Fritz Lang's prescient classic Metropolis. Space is at an absolute premium and conducting the normal routines of everyday life can seem like a major challenge. The contemporary public health issues are mostly to be found there. Fortunately for Tokyo and its citizens, Takehito Takano an...
